Maksim Mrvica, an internationally recognized classical crossover pianist

Mrvica is an internationally renowned Croatian pianist who attempts to break the boundary between Classical music and pop music. He took up piano lessons from the age of nine, giving his first public performance in the same year, and three years later, he gave his first concert performance of Haydn Piano Concerto in C major. In 1991, when war broke out in Croatia, both Mrvica and his professor were determined to continue his music studies. And in spite of the war, Mrvica entered in his first major competition in Zagreb in 1993 and won the first prize. He also won first prize at the Nikolai Rubinstein International Piano Competition in 1999 and the Pontoise Piano Competition in 2001.

Mrvica's debut album "Gesture" (1999) was one of the fastest-selling classical recordings to be released in Croatia and his second album, but the first album with British impresario Mel Bush, "The Piano Player" (2003) brought him huge success particularly in Asia. The album has achieved Gold status in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and China; Platinum in Taiwan and Croatia; and Double Platinum in Hong Kong. He was invited to officiate the Porin award ceremony, which was an honor that wasn't usually granted to a classical artist.

Mrvica has many fans here in Korea. One of his albums "Pure" (2007) was sold out in 10 minutes after the album went on sale and one of his representative performances "The Flight of the Bumblebee" was featured in a TV advert.

On today's HEART TO HEART, pianist Maksim Mrvica is with us, to share his life stories and his life in music.

장르와 음악적인 경계를 넘어서는 파격적인 피아노 연주로 클래식 음악계의 핵 폭풍을 몰고 온 크로아티아 출신의 피아니스트 막심 므라비차를, 만나본다.

수려한 외모와 화려한 퍼포먼스, 정열적인 연주로 클래식과 대중음악의 장르를 넘나들며 국내와 국외에서 두터운 팬층을 확보하고 있는 실력파 뮤지션. 9살에 피아노를 시작해 3년만에 하이든 피아노협주곡으로 공연할 정도로 피아노 연주에 대해 일찍이 천재성을 인정받았는데... 각종 피아노 경연대회에서 우승을 차지해 정통 클래식 음악연주자로 입문, 1993년 쟈그레브 국제 음악 콩쿨에서 우승을 시작으로 1999년에는 연주자들의 선망의 무대인 니콜라이 루빈슈타인 피아노 콩쿠르와 2011년 프랑스 파리 퐁트와즈 피아노 콩 쿠르에서 우승을 차지하며 실력을 구축했다.

2003년 앨범 'The piano player'로 홍콩에서 더블 플래티넘을 기록한데 이어 대만, 한국, 싱가포르, 크로아티아에서는 플래티넘을, 말레이시아, 인도네시아, 중국에서는 골드를 기록하는 등 선풍적인 반응을 일으켰다. 그의 앨범은 발매되는 것마다 전 세계인의 사랑을 받으며 꾸준히 판매고를 올리고 있는데... 특히 국내에서 미발매되어 팬들을 안타깝게 했던 'PURE' 음반 400여장은 2012년 3월 공연장에서 사인회와 함께 판매 된지 10여분만에 매진되는 기록을 세우기도 했다. 클래식 연주자로는 드물게 오빠 부대를 몰고 다니는 스타뮤지션으로, 그의 대표곡 '왕들의 비행'에서 선보이는 강렬한 연주는 '신이내린 손가락'이라는 찬사를 받으며 광고 배경음악으로 선정되어 유명세를 타기도 했는데...

오늘 하트 투 하트에서는 전국 투어로 한국을 찾는 그의 연주를 직접 들어보는 특별한 시간을 갖고, 그의 음악세계와 인생에 대해 이야기 나눠본다.

  
邁可森 - 國際公認的古典跨界鋼琴家

邁可森是一位試圖打破古典音樂和流行音樂界限的國際知名克羅埃西亞鋼琴家。他在九歲開始學琴，並在同一年首次公開演出。三年後，邁可森在首場音樂會上演奏海頓的C大調鋼琴協奏曲。1991年，克羅埃西亞爆發戰爭，邁可森和他的教授決心繼續他在音樂方面的學習。儘管戰火未歇，邁可森仍在1993年前往Zagreb參加人生的第一場重大鋼琴比賽並贏得冠軍。1999年，邁可森贏得魯賓斯坦鋼琴大賽首獎 (Nicolai Rubinstein International Piano Competition)，2001年，贏得巴黎龐拓斯鋼琴大賽首獎(Pontoise Piano Competition)。

邁可森的出道專輯"Gestures"(1999)是克羅埃西亞古典音樂作品裡銷售速度最快的專輯之ㄧ，而他的第二張專輯，與英國經紀人Mel Bush合作的首張專輯"The Piano Player"(2003)，極為成功，尤其是在亞洲地區。這張專輯在新加坡、馬來西亞、印尼和中國皆晉升金唱片，在台灣和克羅埃西亞是白金唱片，在香港則是雙白金唱片。他受邀主持Porin頒獎典禮，這份殊榮在古典藝人裡並不常見。

邁可森在韓國有許多樂迷。他的專輯之ㄧ"Pure"(2007)在上市10分鐘內銷售一空，他的代表作之ㄧ"The Flight of the Bumblebee"在一則電視廣告裡起了重要作用。
